Do you remember seeing a photo of someone,
somewhere you have never seen? Did it inspire you to want to go there? Photography has the potential to help people become more interested in learning more about a place, country or culture. When I’m on Instagram, scrolling through my feed (which is a photography based feed), and see a picture from a place that I haven’t been to, whether it’s a portrait of a person from that place, or a landscape of the scenery there, I am always interested in going there and learning more about that place.
Photography is a catalyst, but it doesn’t replace that human beings have to firmly believe in our hearts that humanity is one. Especially now during the COVID-19 outbreak, photography is a window for us to our global family. Photography is a tool that can help open people’s minds and hearts to seeing others around the world not as strangers, but instead as our brothers and sisters.
